Brian Leng

Brian Leng was born in Castletown, a small mining village on the outskirts of Sunderland, and saw his first game at Roker Park in September 1956 when his father took him to see the legendary ‘Bank of England’ team take on Spurs. Since then he has been a dedicated supporter of the Black Cats and over the years has developed a fanatical interest in the history of the club. He has contributed to numerous SAFC-related publications including the official matchday programme and was also co-editor of the award-winning fans’ magazine, ‘The Wearside Roar’. Brian has also worked closely with the Sunderland Former Players Association since its formation and was elected as an honorary member in 2009. He is currently editor of the SFPA web-site therokerend.com.
