Ronnie Hanna

Ronnie Hanna is a part-time lecturer in history in the School of Education, Queen’s University Belfast. The author of Six Glorious Years: Following Northern Ireland 1980–86, Ronnie has been ‘following Northern Ireland’ since 1971. In his first match at Windsor Park, on 21 April 1971, he saw George Best score a hat-trick against Cyprus. He didn’t see another Northern Ireland player score a hat-trick until David Healy knocked in three against Spain at Windsor on 6 September 2006! In between there have been highs and plenty of lows, but he is still following the team – and still writing about them.
